Self-care is far more than bubble baths and relaxation. In fact elements of self-care should appear in all areas of our lives, from work to relationships, downtime to the busiest moments true self-care needs to be integrated throughout all aspects of our lives.

Case Study Examples

You will also get an in depth look at two case study examples of how our coaches approach self care in their own lives, including a comparison of self-care approaches used in the past as compared to where they are today. Each coach will share the impacts of why they choose the activities for self-care that they do and how it ties to struggles they have been through in the past.

This course also comes with a PDF activity book that allows you to follow along, test out the tools you are learning, and implement self-care while you learn.

How do you care for your self?

I’m not talking about those bubble bath afternoons or reading a book by the fire. How do you care for yourself on a moment to moment basis?

Caring for yourself involves putting boundaries in place. With others, and yourself as well. It involves saying no and having the self discipline to do the things you need to rather than the things you want to – or the things someone else wants you to.

Caring for yourself involves knowing your limits and being honest about your strengths and weaknesses. It involves playing to those strengths rather than wearing yourself out trying to be good at what you simply weren’t designed to do. Likewise caring for yourself involves pushing your limits and tapping into inner strength in moments when its required and necessary. And caring for yourself involves being humble enough to admit when you’re simply trying to find a cop out, while balancing that with the wisdom of knowing when pushing yourself in something truly isn’t in your best interest.

Caring for yourself is healing your wounds rather than pushing them down. Identifying them and being willing to dive deeper into them for the sake of long term recovery and gain.

Caring for yourself is creating a budget and taking inventory. Knowing where your resources are going and what helps replenish them. Not just financially, but emotionally, spiritually, energetically, and relationally too.

Caring for yourself is eating a healthy diet even when donuts are tempting you. It means going for that walk when you’d rather take a nap. Getting active not for sake of vanity but for the goal of well being. For some of us that means eating an extra meal when we’d rather starve ourselves.

Self care is knowing when to put work aside to visit a friend and when to put your social life on hold to complete that project you’ve been avoiding.

At it’s core caring for yourself is knowing what truly provides benefit in a situation and what will create detriment. And then working with that to build routines, habits, and thought patterns that help bring you to be the best version of yourself in all cases rather than only half the time.

Self care is self inventory. And knowing yourself requires getting to understand yourself. Date yourself. Ask yourself the hard hitting questions. Try different things until you see what truly works for you. If you only ever go to the movies with a date or the same restaurant you will tire of each other pretty quickly. Mix it up. Get to know yourself in different contexts. Explore who you are. And then respond to it.

That is caring for yourself. And that is exactly what this course is designed to help you do!
